One of my favorite books from last year was "With" by Skye Jethani. He asks the question What is the most important thing in your life, what is your treasure?" He points out that if the answer to that question isn't Jesus. Then what you've got, no matter how great it is, is an idol. And the church might just be the one to blame.
Your First Love is a post from: Stormented

As we read through the book of Revelation, we would do good to remind ourselves that this letter isn't written to us, at least not directly they way we think about it. It was first written to Jesus followers who lived in the world ruled by Rome. They were misunderstood, for the most part they lived in poverty and on the margins, they were beginning to be hated and persecuted, and so God gives John a vision for them.
Can I Get a Witness? is a post from: Stormented

The Book of Revelation seems like the Mayans got to sit on the meeting where the put together the Bible. They just sit there listening and then snuck a copy of something in while everyone was on a coffee break. I imagine that the book of Revelation is going to be talked about a lot this year, so what does it really mean, and what is it really trying to say?
Revelation and “The End of the World” is a post from: Stormented

One of the best benefits of being home schooled was that my mother let me read all the time growing up. My curriculum for a year or two consisted of my parents dropping me off at the Benton Library and leaving me there all day. It was kind of a dream education. It almost outweighed the whole being terrified of girls and social situations.
All that to say I like reading a lot. And I thought I'd share with you some of the best books I read from 2011:
May I Recommend from 2011 is a post from: Stormented

As we go into this season for one more year, as we dream about the gifts we will be able to give, and stress about the ones we won't. As we hustle and stress on a treadmill that just seems to get faster, remember what this season is really trying to do. It's calling us to see and treat the ones around us better, despite how they look or what resources they bring to the table. Because that's the way Jesus did. Because that's the glory of God.
The Glory of God is a post from: Stormented
